Cactácea

2010-2013

I walk hills of Córdoba finding cactus everywhere. In this land cactus grows naturally integrated into the natural cycle, they are native flora. Some of them are called Opuntia.

Cactaceas or cactus, vegetation resulting from successive mutations to survive the lack of water in arid regions, are native from Americas, as well as opuntias are more specifically from Mexican territory. Millennia of natural migrations on the continent among birds, insects and wind have made opuntias a native species in the region where I grew up and live in Argentina. Cactaceae refers to those natural processes, ancient and often imperceptible construction of identities and movements in our American continent.

Cactácea remite a esos procesos naturales, milenarios y muchas veces imperceptibles de construcción de identidades y movimientos en nuestro continente americano.
