BIO

CECILIA RICHARD

A large part of her exploration within the field of jewelry investigates the relationships that can be established between subject, object, context; its limits and implications.
Usable - portable, portable - non-portable, portable - manipulable, static - transformable, are possible relationships among others.
Many of her works may or may not be attached to people's bodies. Rather they separate and look for other forms of bonding. In this way, subject and object maintain situations of evident autonomy or decided interaction..

In 1988, while traveling through Latin America, she began her first studies in jewelry-making in Cuzco, Peru, with the guidance of Jorge Acevedo de Jesús, a Brazilian artisan on a trip. From then on, her development as a goldsmith was self-taught, until she began studies at the School of Arts of the National University of Cordoba, where she graduated as a Bachelor of Sculpture in 2001, seeking to broaden the aesthetic, conceptual, and poetic scope of her work.

Since 2002, she has taught contemporary jewelry courses in her private studio, and since 2018 she has directed Caelum, a self-managed space dedicated to contemporary jewelry in Cordoba, where she works as a teacher and curator of the exhibition room, as well as external projects.

She has participated in national and international solo and group exhibitions. Her work was selected to participate in 'Schmuck 08' and 23', Munich, Germany, 2008 and 2023, respectively, and among other distinctions, she has received awards such as the 1st Acquisition Prize at the VI Salon of Contemporary Design, Castagnino Museum, Rosario, 2007; and the 1st Jewelry Prize at the International Crafts Fair, Cordoba, in the 1993, 1996, and 1999 editions. Works of her authorship are part of the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rosario - MACRO, Argentina, and numerous private collections.

Since 1990, she has practiced Expressive Rhythmic Gymnastics in the Susana Milderman System, a psychophysical discipline of human development.

She currently lives and works in Cordoba, Argentina.
